Thanksgiving in Roosevelt!

My only job was to bring the fruit salad this year. Maybe we should go to Roosevelt for Thanksgiving more often. At this table we had Kaden, Riley, Galvin, Grandma, Renn and the empty seat was me. The dinner was fabulous. We headed out Thursday morning and got there just in time for Thanksgiving dinner. We had Thanksgiving in Kevin and Ralene's shop. There were space heaters to keep us warm. We are a big crew and it was perfect.

Next we had the cousin table. My kids have 15 cousins out in Roosevelt and 4 more from Orem. They love going to visit their cousins. On this table we had Taylor, Katie, Adri, Blake, Marissa, Morgan, Alex, and Abby. There was plenty to eat and room for seconds.

Grandma brought a quilt and the kids got to tie it. Whoever tied 10 knots could put their name in a drawing. Alex worked really hard and put her name in 2 or 3 times. She enjoyed learned how to tie quilts. Abby had a harder time because her hands began to hurt. Sometimes it is really hard to pull the needle through the layers. She did a fabulous job. One of the Laing boys won the quilt. Maybe next time girls. It turned out really well.

While the older kids were quilting the younger ones were making Christmas chains. Renn helped Adri and Kaden make their Christmas chains. There were 31 paper links on Thanksgiving.

There's Renn, Galvin, Riley, Eric, Conner, Adri, Katie, Roxy and Oakley. What a good idea. I think Becky planned the chains and the Gingerbread houses. The kids were entertained all afternoon.

Like father, like son.

Here we are making the Gingerbread houses. Our roof kept caving in so eventually we made a flat roof. I had plenty of help. Renn was suppose to be helping but he was no help. He's not very patient at projects. Rae won the Gingerbread contest. She got to do it all by herself pretty much. When you have 4 little hands helping who knows what it's going to look like. It was a fun project and a learning lesson on Gingerbread houses. There was candy galore. We didn't need any more junk after the 20 yummy pies on the dessert table. There were a couple homemade pumpkin pies, peanut butter pie, pumpkin cake, apple pie, cherry pie and more. Also vanilla ice cream to go on top. The McBrides know how to eat pie. I think Renn ate 2 whole pumpkin pies while we were out there.

That night we came home to Jordan and Heather's lovely home and a hot tub. We fed their two new dogs while they were out in Salt Lake for Thanksgiving. It was nice except the first night the toilet kept running and the dogs were barking. After that we figured the toilet problem out and the dogs let us sleep. All the kids got their own beds. No one stayed at Grandma McBrides the second night and so we talked about moving to her house. Alex said she could not sleep on the floor and she wasn't going. Talk about a princess. I always slept on the floor as a kid. The rest of the kids cared less. It was easier not packing up so we stayed at Jordans again.

During the day we would go to McBrides or Pipperts and hang out with everyone. Most of the McBrides woke up at 4 a.m. and went to Vernal. Renn and I are done and so we slept in. The kids went to the school and played, went to their cousins and played games, and we ate yummy turkey leftovers. Grandma made the best turkey soup and casserole the next day. What a cook. Now you know why Renn is so spoiled. The girls all had sleepovers with the Pippert girls. On Friday Cody, Renn, Eric, and Grandpa took Kaden, Galvin and Conner skeet shooting. Renn had Kaden shoot a big gun that kicked him so hard he fell over and got a bruise on his arm. What a nice dad. I'm sure they all laughed. They didn't want to leave Saturday, but we had to get home. Maybe we will be back for Christmas sometime. Thanks Jordy and Heather for our comfy beds and nice house to sleep in. And thanks Grandma McBride for taking care of us and feeding us so well!
